This should have been the stand out hotel for our trip but actually turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. There was an issue with the booking we booked a suite with hot plunge pool etc but were given a junior suite without. On notifying hotel we were moved to a villa but this took 4 hours and a room change so was really late before we could settle and enjoy the facilities. We also ordered a cake for after dinner that didnt arrive ? Beautiful hotel just a bit of attention to detail lacking in overall running and service. My wife scored the holiday at 90% ... when asked what reduced the 10% it was due to this hotel and not getting the things requested . This was to be the key night from our trip post the trek and wife's birthday celebrationTRIBES REPLY: We acknowledge that a mistake was made at this hotel and are sorry for it. It's very unusual for this hotel, which has great service normally. They did in fact get the room changed (and upgraded) as fast as possible, but it was a long wait which was of course very unfortunate. Also, with the cake, it was in fact made, but a strange decision was made to keep it for breakfast due to you having a room service dinner. An odd decision, we agree. We're sad that this all happened like this, but we are assured that all possible effort was made to put things right, and so we're putting this down to an unusual aberration and we still rate the hotel highly.

This was my least favourite hotel. There was a lot of reconstruction work taking place. There was obviously a problem with the drains as that seemed to be part of the excavation work and unfortunately the smell in the bathroom was horrendous. I did mention it at the front desk but didn't recieve any feedback. The inclusive tours were also poor, I went to the early morning bird watching and the young guide was not very knowledgeable.

Extraordinary! beautiful arrangement of slightly different houses with balconies or large windows. Great restaurant and additional rooms with style incl a bar around. Wonderful meals! Feeding of birds in the morning is amazing, the hummingbirds and orchids, too. You have to book a tour early enough (one day before usually), staff was rather impersonal (not so in bar and restaurant).

The grounds were superb, lovely guided trails included in the price. Rooms were fine, the bathroom really very basic (given the price) and oddly enough no mosquito nets on the windows. So either fresh air and bugs, or neither. Despite its "eco friendly" image, they changed the towels and soaps every day. Very good food in the restaurant.
