Founded in 1998 we consistently won any awards we entered for the responsible way we run our business. We are a recognised global pioneer of responsible travel and the awards below are the proof of this. We’re very proud of them.
We stopped entering awards in 2011. We should probably change that!
Association of Independent Tour Operators
Within AITO, Tribes held the highest 5* award (no longer running) for sustainable travel. We also received the 2011 award for Most Innovative Sustainable Tourism Initiative.
British Travel Awards
For two years in 2009 and 2010 we were delighted to be given the award for Environmentally & Socially Responsible Small Tour Operator. Since then the British Travel Awards stopped offering an award for this category.
World Travel Awards
We were delighted to win the award for World's Leading Green Tour Operator in 2008, 2009 and 2010. We have also been nominated again this year for the World's Leading Green Tour Operator.
Responsible Tourism Awards
The Responsible Tourism Awards have taken place since 2004. In 2005 we won Best Tour Operator, and were very pleased to be the Overall Winner of the Responsible Tourism Awards this year too. We were Highly Commended as Best Tour Operator again in 2007.
Tourism for Tomorrow
After getting a highly commended in 2001, in 2002 we went on to get Best Tourism Organisation AND win the overall prize of being Global Winner of the Tourism for Tomorrow awards 2002.
The Tribes Foundation
Simply by booking with Tribes, you are making a difference. Every booking helps with The Tribes Foundation, the charity we back with admin and funds. Most clients give additional donations which we always put to very good use with one of the wildlife, environmental or social projects we support.
