Zanzibar Beach Holiday

6 days from £530pp plus international flights.

A beach holiday on the tropical island of Zanzibar - what could be better?

If you're looking for an escape to a tropical island, Zanzibar should be on your list! Relax on sandy beaches lapped by the Indian Ocean, swim and snorkel over colourful coral reefs, listen to the breeze in the palm trees, savour the freshest seafood, and sip creative cocktails as the sun sets. This is the beach holiday perfected!

Since we are an independent company and we plan tailor made holidays, we can book any hotel on Zanzibar for you. And the choice is wide.  There are larger resort-type hotels to small boutique hotels, but here are just three of our favourites at different price ranges.

Pongwe Beach Hotel

Pongwe Beach Hotelis a little gem. It overlooks a quiet bay fringed by a coral reef, ideal for swimming and snorkelling, and has a gorgeous rim-flow pool overlooking the beach. Hammocks are strung beneath trees where you can doze, lulled by the sounds of the waves, and you can explore by bike or kayak as you wish.

Matemwe Lodge

A gorgeous rustic, yet high quality lodge on the north-east coast of Zanzibar. It's a relaxed yet stylish place to stay, with great service and just 12 lovely cottages. There are 2 swimming pools and a watersports centre and spa.

White Sand Villas and Spa

White Sand Villas and Spa is a luxurious resort with 11 lavish villas set in tropical gardens leading down to the beach, designed by one of East Africa's foremost architects. There's a large rooftop lounge with stunning panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, a spa, 2 pools and watersports' centre. All interiors are air conditioned and there's Wi-Fi throughout.

You may find all you need right where you are and feel no need to stir beyond the hotel! However staff at all hotels can arrange activities and excursions such as a spice tour, boat trips, snorkelling, diving and more.

This holiday is a slice of paradise that you really won't want to miss.

When you arrive in Zanzibar, you'll bet met by a local representative and driven to your chosen hotel to begin your relaxing week on the famed spice island. You'll be shown to your room where you can unpack your bags and make yourself at home, saunter out to the terrace and enjoy the views. Make your way to the lounge where you'll meet fellow guests, and later you'll enjoy your first meal at the resort. Dinner

DAY 2: ON ZANZIBAR

Wake to the sound of the breeze in the tall palm trees, a much gentler awakening than an intrusive alarm clock! Over breakfast you can ponder options for the day. All the hotels are set on the beach and offer many water-based activities. Each hotel also has a swimming pool and areas where you can lie back and top up your tan. There's no pressure to do anything other than relax and enjoy the ocean views. Breakfast, dinner

DAY 3: ON ZANZIBAR

By now you'll be settling into the slower pace of island life. You might like to take a stroll along the beach at low tide, looking out for scuttling crabs and the distinctive sails of traditional dhows as they ply the waters. If the sun becomes too strong, there is plenty of shaded seating at the hotel. Breakfast, dinner

Colobus monkeys in Jozani forest

DAYS 4-5: ON ZANZIBAR

Another two days to relax or explore. You might like to spread your wings and explore the island of Zanzibar. Try a spice tour where you learn about the propagation and production of crops such as cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, or a trip to Jozani forest in search of colobus monkeys. You can also visit the capital, Stone Town, with its historic buildings, bustling alleys, busy waterfront, shops and cafes. After all the excitement you'll be glad to arrive back at your hotel to rest! Breakfast, dinner
