Pongwe Beach Hotel

Zanzibar & the Coast

Rating: Mid-range

Pongwe Beach Hotel overview

Situated on the beautiful eastern coastline, Pongwe Beach Hotel is a relaxing retreat, a modestly sized hotel with an intimate atmosphere. With a beautiful beach in a secluded bay protected by a coral reef, this is an ideal place to relax and enjoy Zanzibar's distinctive, mellow pace.

The sea is perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving. The hotel also has kayaks which are free to use and their own boat for big game fishing and leisurely cruises. At low tide you can go for long walks along the beach. There are plenty of hammocks and sun loungers on the beach and in the pretty palm-filled gardens and there is an infinity pool for that cooling swim.

Guest cottages are scattered throughout the grounds with views of the beach or gardens. They have traditional lime wash walls and thatched Makuti roofs made from woven palm leaves. All have good sized en-suite bathrooms with showers, and you will find a supply of locally produced toiletries in the bathrooms.
