For many visitors, Kenya is all about the safari, and not everyone is aware of the miles of stunning coastline and beach resorts. They combine perfectly with the inland destinations to make a wonderful safari and beach holiday. Of course, they also make a stunning stand-alone getaway too. With gorgeous sunsets, sandy beaches, coral reefs, swaying palms and delicious fresh seafood washed down with a cocktail or two, this is beach holiday perfection!

Diani and Galu beaches:
South of Mombasa lies Diani Beach with its numerous world-class beach resorts. Just below Diani, you'll find Galu Beach. They both offer swaying palms, coral reefs and sandy beaches edged with lush forests. Diani attracts a diverse crowd and it caters for both relaxation and water sports. When you want a short break from lazing in your hammock, take a guided tour of the forests or even a full day trip to Shimba Hills National Reserve or Mwalunganje Elephant Sanctuary.

Mombasa:
In and around Mombasa there are several world-renowned beaches that can compete with the best. There are some large hotels with lots of facilities which will suit many people, though if you prefer a smaller and quieter option we can provide this too.

Lamu:
Laidback and carefree describes Lamu perfectly. There are no cars and the relaxed pace of life here, coupled with the blend of Arab and African culture, makes this an attractive place to spend some time. For an introduction to local culture and history, visit the Lamu Museum. There's a 19th-century fort, over 20 mosques, a visit to the crab and lobster market is always fun. There are flights to Lamu from Nairobi.

Manda Bay

Watamu:
Not surprisingly, given that there is a Marine National Park just off the shores of Watamu, this is a destination associated with superb snorkelling and diving. Experience the beauty of the coral reef and the colourful marine life that it sustains. Watamu is known for clear waters and 15 km of inviting sandy beaches. Also offshore are interesting rock clusters that the sea has eroded over the years. Many of the local operators work together to protect this natural wonder.

Smaller islands near Zanzibar:
From the tiny Chumbe Island and Fanjove to the slightly larger Mafia Island and then the even larger Pemba Island (which is still smaller than Zanzibar), there are some wonderful alternatives to staying on the main island.
