7 days from £4270pp plus international flights.
This trip is ideal for lovers of wildlife and nature. Come and search for jaguars and giant otters in the wild!
The highlight will undoubtedly be the days spent on the river seeking out jaguars, but you also have time to take forest hikes, climb observation towers and go horse riding through fields and forest. the Jaguar Flotel is on the Cuiaba River about an hour away from Porto Joffre. It is in the heart of jaguar-spotting territory and the odds of seeing jaguars here at very high!
It's not just jaguars though. Giant otters are commonly seen here and they too are usually very hard to find, so this is a real treat. In addition you'll see capybaras, caiman, the rare hyacinth macaws and hopefully many other species.
You will have a dedicated English-speaking guide throughout the trip, helping you make the very best of your time in this unique environment.
With this trip you have a choice of whether to join a group set departure, or if you prefer we can arrange this trip for you as a private departure on whatever date you like.
On the whole, the best time to do this trip is between July and September, though the months either side can also be good too.
Arrive at Cuiaba airport, where you will be met and depart for the SouthWild Pantanal Lodge at Fazenda Santa Tereza, with various stops en-route. You should reach the lodge by 7 pm, in time for dinner.
Dinner.
An early departure from the lodge in an open safari truck to reach Porto Jofre by 10 am. Here you board manoeuvrable boats for the upstream journey into the heart of Jaguar Zone to SouthWild Jaguar Flotel, where you spend the next 4 nights.
Full board.
Two full days of boat rides to search for jaguars and giant otters. Each day will include up to 8 hours of searches and observation in radio-equipped motorboats between 6 am and 6 pm. Uniquely, the jaguars along this stretch of the river have become accustomed to boats and are habituated to the presence of humans. The Cuiaba River is also home to large family groups of giant otters and the riverbanks teem with birds and monkeys. Of course the river is also home to countless capybara and caimans.
Full board.
Have an early breakfast and check out of Jaguar Flotel. Transfer back to SouthWild Pantanal in the open safari truck. Enjoy afternoon activities at SouthWild Pantanal. You have the chance to take boat rides on the Pixaim River, hike on forest trails, view the Pantanal from observation towers and to go horse riding through fields and forests, as agreed with your guide. Full board.
