Saruni Samburu and Mara

Taking a wildlife safari in both Samburu in the north and the Masai Mara in the south gives you two very different landscapes in which to enjoy the very special wilderness and wildlife of Kenya. This trip is perfect for anyone wanting a top class safari, but add the 'Warrior Academy' experience and it's also a wonderful family adventure.

The Saruni lodges at Samburu and the Mara are both very high quality independent lodges with an eye for detail, incredible accommodation, great food and offering superb safari experiences. Both are in private reserves outside of the national parks which means that there are far fewer people around and yet the wildlife is free to roam here. In the Mara you can choose from either Saruni Mara or Saruni Wild.

The Samburu region is far drier than the Mara and you will likely see a slightly different range of wildlife here than in the Mara. In the Mara, you could try to see the annual migration if you visit between about July and October, but the resident wildlife is of course here all year round.
