Open: Bashay Rift Lodge is open all year.

Location: The lodge is located at the top of Umbwe Hill in the Karatu area, about a half hour drive from the Ngorongoro Crater, and close to Bashay village. It is set in 35 hectares of land.

Rooms: There are several styles of accommodation, all en-suite with full running water: 5 cosy cottages some with terraces, a family cottage with 2 bedrooms and a shared lounge, the garden house with 4 bedrooms, a lounge and dining area, acacia house with 6 bedrooms and a large living area, 2 secluded rooms in the coffee house, and 2 spacious suites by the pool each with a private terrace.

Activities: Walking in the lodge grounds, farm tours, mountain biking, visits to local Irawq tribe villages and schools, game drives in the Ngorongoro Crater and a day trip to Lake Eyasi to visit the Hadzabe hunter-gathering tribe can all be enjoyed here.

Facilities: The ‘Main’ is the central building where you’ll find the restaurant, lounge and bar, each area with its own fireplace. There’s a large terrace. The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool in a warm and sunny location in the garden. There are changing rooms, toilets and showers here. There is a large kitchen garden, and the property includes 2 hectares of coffee plants, several bee hives and egg-laying hens. The lodge offers a massage service. There is a laundry service. The lodge has a gift shop.

Dining: Meals are eaten at individual tables in the Main and some houses and both suites have areas for private dining.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is internet access but this can be unreliable.
