From its hilltop setting Bashay Rift Lodge has wonderful views of the surrounding farmland. This is a rural area where you can enjoy the pace of country life and have a break from your safari, although it is possible to venture out into the Ngorongoro Crater for game drives if you wish. The lodge is set in 35 hectares of grounds with vegetable gardens, coffee plantations, bee hives and a flock of egg laying hens, and you're welcome to take a tour or wander the grounds at your leisure. You can also explore by bike, visit a local Irawq village and meet the Hadzabe hunter gatherers on a day trip to Lake Eyasi.

The lodge and its gardens offer plenty of options for rest and relaxation. The central area, known as the 'Main', has an inviting lounge and bar, both with open fires, and a wide terrace where you can watch some superb sunsets. A path leads across the lawn to the swimming pool, very welcome after time spent out and about, and for a special treat you can avail yourself of the in-house massage service. Meals use much of the lodge's own produce including vegetables, eggs and honey, and are served in the dining room.

Bashay Rift Lodge has several types of room, suitable for couples, groups of friends, families and individual travellers. All are en-suite with hot and cold running water. Some feature private lounge and dining areas and some have their own terraces.
