Day 1

Arrive Victoria Falls

You arrive in Zimbabwe with a flight into Victoria Falls airport where you will be met and driven to Insika Lodge, your home for the next three nights. The rest of the day is at leisure. You can opt to explore the lively town or stay put at the lodge. There's a lovely pool for an enticing dip, or you could arrange a treatment at the spa and sauna. The lodge also has a restaurant where you can dine if you wish, or ask for a recommendation in town.

Day 2

Victoria Falls

There is so much to do in this town. After breakfast a guided tour of the Falls has been arranged. From there you will go on to The Lookout Café for a two course lunch. The venue overlooks the Batoka Gorge, which was carved out by the Falls over the millenia. The afternoon is free and then in the evening, enjoy dinner at the Dusty Road Township - it's a wonderful experience and an opportunity to try some local dishes.

Day 3

Victoria Falls

An early start today for your first official game drive. Just on the edge of town is the Zambezi National Park. This is a gentle introduction to the world of safari. Together with your guide, go in search of the wildlife and birdlife of the area. Each game drive is different, enjoy your guide's expert knowledge as you traverse the park. Afterwards, back in town, we have arranged a short helicopter flight so that you can see things from the air - it's an amazing experience, one not to be missed. Relax back at the lodge for the rest of the afternoon. Later you will be collected for a sunset and dinner cruise on the Zambezi - watch the sky and the water change colour as the sun sets on another day, enjoy dinner on board before being returned to the lodge for the night.

Day 4

To Hwange National Park

A short flight in a light aircraft takes you to the renowned Hwange National Park and The Hide, where you will spend the next three nights. You will have the opportunity to totally immerse yourself in safari life in the park known for large herds of elephant and buffalo. The Hide is located in a private concession within the park. You'll received a warm welcome, and, If time allows you enjoy a game drive this afternoon with chances of spotting all the Big 5 before returning to camp to shower before dinner.

Day 4

Hwange National Park

The day is devoted to wildlife viewing. Drives in open 4x4 vehicles allow you to see different parts of the concession and national park as you take in the varied scenery whilst you seek game and predators. The park's waterholes offer great sightings not just of mammals but also birds with over 400 species present. Your guide knows the land well and is able to take you to some favourite locations, many of which are known to few people, to ensure your safari is both informative and fun. By the end of the day you are building up your knowledge of the flora and fauna, well and truly bitten by the safari bug!

Day 5

Hwange National Park

You can vary your time in Hwange with a guided bush walk. The immediacy with nature is the key feature of this experience, you are unhindered by any barrier and are really at one with nature. These walks generally last between one and two hours and are a wonderful way to appreciate the smaller details you might otherwise miss and to gain an insight into the overall ecosystem with everything from the smallest insect and plant playing its part. If you take an afternoon walk you can enjoy sundowners in the bush before returning to camp.

Day 6

Hwange National Park

Make the most of your last full day on safari. As we mentioned earlier, no two game drives are the same, so who knows what you will encounter today. Weather sunrise or sunset is your favourite, you're sure to have an exciting day of game viewing together with your knowledgeable guide. Zimbabwe has some of the best guides in the business. If you want to take it a little slower, don't forget the hide at the waterhole, it's a great opportunity to get some amazing images as the wildlife comes down to the water to drink.

Day 8

Departure

After breakfast, you'll be taken to Umtshibi Airstrip. This transfer is the last opportunity for game viewing, so keep your camera at the ready, it's certainly different to an airport transfer back home. A light aircraft will fly you back to Victoria Falls Airport where you connect with your onward travel plans.
