Day 1

Ushaia

On arrival at Ushuaia Airport you will be met and transferred to your pre-assigned hotel. You can visit the expedition check-in desk to collect your luggage tags and also confirm if you wish to join the optional activity of a Beagle Channel cruise tomorrow. The rest of the day is at leisure so you can relax after your long haul flight.

Day 2

Embarkation

A gentle start to your day. Check out after breakfast and leave your luggage with reception - you will be reunited once you board the vessel. This afternoon, your Antarctic adventure really gets underway today as you transfer to the pier and your waiting vessel, which will be your home for the next ten nights. The ship is a purpose built Polar expedition vessel with lots of social space and comfortable cabins. Settle in, get your bearings and enjoy a welcome dinner as the ship casts off for the Antarctic and your trip of a lifetime.

Days 3-4

At Sea

As you wake today you'll be heading across the Drake Passage. During the crossing you are likely to be joined by giant petrels, albatrosses and Cape petrels. Your time on board is spent watching informative presentations given by the resident naturalist guides, relaxing in the lounges and enjoying tasty meals. Budding photographers can learn handy tips and techniques from the on-board photography expert. At the captain's discretion, you may be able to visit the bridge and join the captain and officers on watch to learn about the operation of the vessel.

Days 5-7

Antarctic Peninsula

At this stage of the voyage the snowy Antarctic peaks lie before you, and you cannot fail to be impressed as you appreciate first-hand the beauty of this incredible sight. Together with your guides, plan an exciting range of activities from guided hikes on shore, zodiac cruising on the icy waters as you seek out seals and whales, all offering you the chance to explore Antarctica from different perspectives. It's not all go-go-go, if you prefer to sit on a rock and watch the penguins come and go, then that's what you shall do. Your guides can shed light on the wildlife and history as you explore for yourself.

Days 8-10

Antarctic Peninsula

Weather permitting there are usually two Zodiac excursions or landings per day. On land you can discover historic huts, visit penguin rookeries and explore various interesting spots on the peninsula. The Zodiac cruises will take you alongside spectacular ice cliffs and amongst the icebergs where you can keep a lookout for whales, seals and penguins. When onboard the ship, there is also time to enjoy the observation lounge and enjoy spectacular views of the splendour of Antarctica. You can hear the glaciers creaking as you take in this magnificent white continent in all its glory

Days 11-12

Drake Passage

After a final morning in the South Shetland Islands you leave Antarctica behind with her stunning scenery and enchanting wildlife. You'll pass through Drake Passage for the two day crossing back to South America. You are now completely familiar with life on board, as you take in views from the observation lounge. You might want to enjoy the sauna or a workout at the gym. With favourable weather, the captain will sail close to the legendary Cape Horn. After dinner turn in for your final night on board.

Day 13

Arrive Ushuaia

In the early morning hours you will cruise up the Beagle Channel before docking in Ushuaia and it's time to say goodbye to the crew. Disembarkation is from about 0800. You can opt to fly out of Ushaia today or maybe add on a day or two if you wish. Either way we're pretty sure you'll be taking some amazing memories home with you.
