Zarafa Camp was re-branded and re-furbished in December 2008 and is now a luxurious and intimate safari camp.
It is set on a palm island in the Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana, part of the huge Linyanti Concession. Nearby is Zibadianja Lagoon, the source of the famous Savuti channel. This beautiful area is characterised by extensive floodplain savannah with occassional palm studded islands.
The camp is constructed using as much as possible recycled and locally sourced materials. There are just four enormous meru style tents set on raised platforms and with en-suite bathrooms with shower and bath tub and flush toilet and hot and cold water. They also have plunge pools on the decks for cooling down in hot weather.
The central lounge and dining area is stunningly decorated using traditional safari artifacts and warm colours. Meals are taken inside or out, depending on the weather.
There is a wealth of animals to see in the reserve including elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard and wild dog plus abundant birdlife. There are day and night game drives and guided walks of varying durations. There are opportunities for canoeing and cruising on HES Zib, the camp's lovely floating pontoon boat, Hiking and bird watching are also popular activities in this region.
The perfect camp for a luxurious and very special safari.

Client Rating for Botswana 5/5 from 120 reviews
More reviewsI only visited this camp, but I would really love to stay here. It's immaculately and professionally run, nothing is too much trouble, it's understatedly stylish, and very comfortable. Of course all this comes at a very high price, but if you're looking for one of the best camps in Africa, this would be one of my choices. The view over the lagoon is hard to stop looking at, and this whole remote corner of the Linyanti is a very beautiful one. I would always put this camp last on any itinerary as it would be very hard to top it. I would link it with a high quality Okavango Delta camp such as Mombo where you should in theory see more game, though the game viewing I had staying at a sister camp in the same area as Zarafa (I stayed at Selinda Camp) was good too.
