Location: Hotel Monasterio is in a quiet setting just a little way from Cusco’s main square. It is about a 15-20 minute drive from the airport, which is 5kms away.

Rooms: There are superior and deluxe rooms, one-bedroom suites and unior suites. There are 122 rooms and suites in total, all with private marble bathroom. Rooms have views of the courtyard or city, LCD RV, iPod dock andWi-Fi. Air conditioning is available upon request and some rooms can supply oxygen enriched air to combat any signs of altitude sickness. Suites have sitting areas, DVD players and all are air conditioned, and the two-storey junior suites have a private terrace or balcony.

Activities: Many of the city’s major attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. Hotel staff can arrange tours of the city and environs, plus cultural trips, cookery classes with the chef, pisco tasting, and a tour of the hotel’s art collection housed in the chapel. You can even be a chef for a day, shopping in Cusco market then returning to the hotel to cook a three-course meal with the product you chose, while the bartender creates a cocktail from the fruit you bought.

Facilities: The hotel has 2 restaurants (see below), a deli selling cakes, breads, meats, cheeses and craft beers, and a lobby bar. A soothing Andean bath is available and massages can be arranged. The courtyard with its fountain, 300 year old cedar tree and cloisters is the core of the hotel.

Dining: Meals are eaten at individual tables. El Tupay Restaurant specialises in international dishes, with dinner sometimes complimented by live operatic singing. Illary Restaurant is located in the cloisters round the main courtyard and in the courtyard itself. It serves Mediterranean-based cuisine and is open for breakfast and lunch.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. There are special cookery classes for youngsters and treasure hunts can be arranged for children.

Health: Cusco is not a malarial area.

Communication: There is Wi-Fi in all guest rooms and suites.
