Chui Lodge is set in a privately owned 18,000 acre wildlife sanctuary, in a grove of Euphorbia trees, overlooking a waterhole with the dramatic Mau Escarpment as a backdrop. The sanctuary is home to over 45 species of mammals. Chui Lodge is crafted from simple bush stone, local acacia, leleshwa and olive woods with a beautiful twisted marula roof. The lodge was built in 1998 by Hans and June Zwager, and the family still owns and runs Chui.
Accommodation consists of 8 individual cottages, each distinctive in style and with an en-suite bathroom and a delightful veranda overlooking the waterhole and escarpment. They are equipped with 4 poster beds and fireplaces, and each is decorated in its own style.
The lounge, dining and bar area features murals, African carvings and antiques, and has a relaxed atmosphere. The lodge's furniture is made on site from sustainable materials. The swimming pool, a short walk from the main building, has great views of the waterhole and the escarpment. Highly trained professional chefs deliver an exquisite array of cuisine based on local fresh produce.
Activities offered include game drives, guided bush walks, fishing, day trips to Lake Nakuru National Park and boat trips on Lake Naivasha.
