Our truck getting stuck in sand in a dry river bed while 9 hungry lions attacked a hippo less than 100m away, as night was falling and lightning lit up the scene. Managed to dig ourselves out then we were taken for a closer look!
Tracking lion prints through the bush with the reassurance of an excellent guide from the Bushcamp and an armed ranger from the National Parks service - and someone bringing up the rear with our morning tea and biscuits!
Our Bushcamp stays were wonderful, really felt like you were out in the wilds, but with all the facilities you need. We had fabulous wildlife sightings, including on the early morning walking safaris. The quality or the accommodation and food was exceptionally good throughout our stay.
Knowledgeable about the different bushcamps and lodges and ready to make endless changes as we changed our minds
Godfrey at Thornicroft made a huge effort to make sure we saw lions or leopards every day, though that sometimes involved long drives. Manda at Bilimungwe exceptionally informative and knowledgeable, and great on the walks. Both also gave us a good insight into local issues.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
All lodges seemed to have a good awareness of and commitment to environmental issues, in developing local staff, and being involved with the local community
