Busanga Plains Camp is a small tented camp with just four large rooms situated on a palm island in the heart of the game-rich Busanga Plains in Kafue National Park.
This unique wetland area is accessible only by 4WD vehicles. The independently owned camp is open for four months each year, between July to October. The safari tents are spacious with mozzie nets, en-suite, open air& bathrooms with flush loos and bucket showers. The main dining and lounge area is on a raised deck providing views across the open plains and to a fig tree and palm island opposite the camp. This is where guests gather for mealtimes and convivial chat around the fire before retiring to their tents.
The area is home to big herds of buffalo (up to 1,000 animals at times), wildebeest, zebra, roan antelope and red lechwe, followed by their predators, plenty of lions and several cheetahs. It's also a bird lovers paradise, the birdlife here is spectacular with both crowned and wattled cranes, and ground hornbills that stalk across the plains.
