We loved getting close up views of the wildlife. Our best moment was at the Monteverde Inn private reserve. We paid 15$ to walk around the reserve which has a path around the edge of a beautiful gorge complete with waterfalls and views to the Pacific coast. We saw a group of capuchin monkeys who were jumping and running through the trees just over our heads. It was a magical experience. Other highlights were whitewater rafting in Fortuna, zip lining in Monteverde and quad biking around the beaches in Guanacaste.

Tribes Overall:

We had a fantastic time. Costa Rica is a wonderful destination. All our arrangements for hotels, transfers and excursions went really well with no hiccups. Thank you for making our holiday so perfect.

Brilliant service from Tribes. Rory McCormick was fantastic. Right from the start he responded to our requests and answered all my questions and worries. We were able to change hotels and select or upgrade. All our hotels were great, all our transfers happened on time and we were notified of any changes. Rory understood what we wanted and was able to reassure me that all arrangements were in hand. The Vamoos app was really useful. It had everything we needed on it so it was to hand. Well done Tribes!

Guides:

All our drivers and guides were brilliant. They really went the extra mile to make our experience the best it could be. Guides were knowledgeable, professional and friendly.

Costa Rica is super environmentally aware and we were happy to abide by their guidance and restrictions around wildlife

Hotel Presidente

San Jose

Only had one night here but the room was perfectly adequate with a nice bathroom. Breakfast looked good but we left too early to enjoy it.

Mawamba Lodge

Costa Rica

The setting is amazing and the garden is beautiful. The cabin was a little basic in terms of lighting and sockets. The shower was hot in the morning but not the evening. Food choices in the evening were inadequate and people had to queue.
Excursions were great, in small boats up and down the lagoon. The garden tour was also really good and very informative. Laura did a great job as guide and mentor.

Lomas del Volcan

Arenal

The hotel is in a great location, close to Fortuna so easy to access by taxi. Our cabin was really nice, good air con and great bathroom. There are excellent views of the volcano. Pool and jacuzzi were good. The restaurant was classy with good food. The outdoor terrace was lovely for lunch or breakfast.The private nature trail was tough but worth walking. Spotted some toucans.
