We love the flora , fauna and birds in the Western Ghats and the many walking expeditions in the most beautiful surroundings. We like living with and close to families and getting a sense of the real India . The thrill of driving along a road and chancing on wild elephants, gaur , birds and seeing them in their natural surroundings. We like the bustle of the small villages and towns ,sitting in a local bakery and people watching, so fascinating. The colourful Theyyams near Kannur are an amazing and colourful sight as are the temple parades where you become the watched not the watcher ! A photographers paradise. This was our 9th visit and we are entranced and enchanted by Southern India and will return again and again.
Absolutely enjoyed every minute of this holiday from tea to coffee to the coastal plain of Kerala
Seamless travel arrangements , liked the timely paperless documents and felt confident in all the arrangements. The agents on the ground, Dravidian travels kept in contact with both us and our driver and we were very confident in all arrangements , a big thank you to Paul (and Anita)
Santhosh our driver is a careful and very experienced driver who cares for our every need and when we were initially told we had to wait 4 hrs for a room at our 1st Stop, stepped in and negotiated with the hotel and we were given a room immediately. He also is knowledgeable about locations of Theyyams and other festivals. A great guide and driver.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
Staying in small homestays enables you to understand more of the culture and nature and also meet locals in non tourist locations. We were so impressed in the Nilgiris at their plastic free environment, banning single use plastic, bags , wrapping and cups. The police even did random checks on cars and litter pickers were everywhere. We could learn many lessons in the UK on how to reduce plastics.
The places you stayed
Ajay and Nisha welcome us here as family and nothing is too much trouble. This is a great location set in the coffee plantations with amazing walks and views. The rooms are all superb , the service is superb as are the meals. The most common feedback from other guests is we wish we had stayed longer and we will be coming back. Everyone is made to feel special and guests come from many parts of the world,
