Holiday review by Mr. Andrew Moore

We loved the whole holiday. It has opened our eyes to both the positives and the negatives of India. Outside the national parks India is an environmental disaster...pollution levels, litter and CO2 production are completely our of control. However, the people are delightful, the train journeys were fantastic, the wildlife reserves were lovely and, despite the tiger-centric focus of the staff, were doing a wonderful job of providing a haven for wildlife. All the lodges and hotels were great and the staff teams in them were first class, and, made us feel so welcome.

Tribes Overall:

lovely accommodation, lovely people, great wildlife in the parks, interesting places to go in the city.

Tribes Service:

Everything we needed was in the documentation and was very accurate and, therefore, informative.

Guides:

The guides were excellent. The people who met us were always there waiting and made sure we got to the right place at the right time. The guides in Delhi and Agra were very good, especially the chap who showed us around Delhi. The naturalists at the reserves were also very good, in particular Sanjay (Kanha) and Karan (Satpura).

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

By going we are making it worthwhile for the government of India to fund the preservation of wildlife. My concern is that there is too much focus on the Tiger and not enough focus on the tiger as a component of a much wider and richer ecology. The only place that did show this high level of respect for ALL wildlife was Satpura. Sanjay, at Kanha was also very on side, but I felt that, with the exception of Satpura, all the employees of the Wildlife reserves were in it for the tips and were only interested in showing clients tigers and were hopeless.

India

A lovely hotel where the staff were very helpful. Disappointed that we could not get into the fully booked Indian restaurant so, as a result, our first meal in India was served in a Chinese restaurant!!

Lovely laid back lodge where all the staff were very friendly and keen to make our stay memorable. The owner came and talked to us each evening around the camp fire. Lovely setting with great wildlife to be found in the forest surrounding the lodge. Naturalist was very good and knowledgeable about the wildlife.

A lovely lodge. The rooms were fantastic and the grounds were lovely and full of wildlife. The staff worked very hard to make our stay special and were only too willing to do anything to help and provide us with what we might need.

A lovely lodge. The rooms were fantastic and the grounds were lovely and full of wildlife. The staff worked very hard to make our stay special and were only too willing to do anything to help and provide us with what we might need. The only slight problem occurred with regard to the safaris. When we initially asked to be placed on the Night drive we were told that we had to forgo the afternoon that we were booked on and then pay for the additional Night Drive. We complained and said that this could not be right. Eventually they came back to us and said it had been an error! A number of visitors commented on the lack of information provided by the senior managers in the lodge. However, that said, Everything else was spot on.
