Holiday review by Mr. Richard Adams
Name: Mr. Richard Adams
Date of trip: 23/01/2020
Number of people: 2
The birding in the Mindo area. Views of mountains, forests and volcanoes (everywhere!) Galapagos wildlife - even the sea lion which was sitting on the bench that I wanted to use!
Tribes Service:
Generally good but will include in further comments
Guides:
Mainland guide (and driver) 5 star. Or even 5 star +++
Galapagos guide 2 star
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
Hard to say. Certainly we spent money there which we hope impacted.
Some of the tourist industry in Galapagos looks hard to imagine as sustainable. The main street in Peurto Ayora which we thought was a small fishing town is now a flashy place of posh bars, restaurants and shops. Our trip seemed less of an impact but we all bear blame if we visit.
The places you stayed

Patio Andaluz
Ecuador
Great location. Just spoilt a bit by other stupid tourists, but you cannot legislate for that.

Bellavista Cloud Forest Lodge
Ecuador
Great location for birding. Rooms getting a bit faded and need attention.
Some excursions easier to access from Mindo

Termas Papallacta
Ecuador
Although food was very much on the school canteen level and did not fit with the level of accommodation.

Hotel Oro Verde
Ecuador
Super hotel, but waiting for the surrounding area to be upgraded, so it is not well situated yet.

Hotel Albemarle
Galapagos Islands
Nothing posh, but comfortable, clean and well situated on the beach

Angermeyer Waterfront Inn
Galapagos Islands
