Tribes Overall:

We enjoyed the holiday overall.

Tribes Service:

We were happy with the information received and with the level of communication following our initial enquiry. We rejected another company because we found them to be too pushy, with a constant bombardment of emails and phone calls after we had made enquiries about a holiday.

Guides:

Guides were all generally very pleasant and knowledgeable.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

It is always good to learn about and experience new environments, wildlife and culture.

The places you stayed

Hotel Presidente

San Jose

We were only here for an overnight stay, but we were very impressed with what we saw.

Lomas del Volcan

Arenal

The accommodation was excellent and breakfast was good. However, we did not like the restaurant, which we thought was overpriced, pretentious and had very poor service. We ate here on the first night, but on some other nights we ate in the bar area, where the menu was more to our liking and service was good.
We thought that the location of the hotel was too remote from the town centre, there was a one km walk along a rough track to the main road, involving the crossing of a ford, making it necessary for us to get our feet wet! it was then a further 3+km into town. The hotel did provide a taxi service into town at a cost of 6usd each way, but we prefer to walk where possible.

Playa Potrero, Guanacaste

A lovely hotel in a very good location. We were initially given an upgraded superior room, but chose to move to a standard room after one night, as although the superior room was large and comfortable with a luxurious bathroom, it had no windows and was at the back of the site. The hotel willingly moved us and we found the standard grade room to be very good and in a much better position.
I had an accident whilst staying at this hotel (off the premises) and the staff were very obliging to my needs, providing the loan of a wheelchair and offering help.
Breakfasts and other meals in the restaurant were all very good.
The hotel was very well equipped with an excellent pool and plenty of seating and sun loungers.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the room was clean and comfortable in a lovely environment and the food was also good.
