We loved seeing the wildlife. At Bosque del Cabo, the viewing was exceptional - scarlet macaws, toucans and monkeys all right by our veranda. And so much other wildlife around the estate too - peccaries, coatis, falcons, herons, anteaters and many more. We saw a lot too at the National Parks when we stayed near Parrita.
We had a wonderful holiday. We saw so much interesting wildlife, often at close quarters, and our accommodations were excellent. All the transportations between hotels and pick-ups for our guided tours were on (or even ahead of) time. The hotel staff, drivers and other people we met were friendly and welcoming.
Paul Cook was fantastic. He put together a tailor-made package for us that was just what we wanted. No fuss and very good with all communications, both before and after booking.
Our private guides in Bosque del Cabo and for the Manuel Antonio and Carara National Parks were excellent - informative, friendly and fun. The guide for the group tour (Doka Estate, Poas Volcano and La Paz) was not so good - quite unfriendly, but he was the exception.
The places you stayed
Very nice accommodation and excellent food and service.
Amazing location. Right in the jungle, but also overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The beaches are beautiful (both Pacific side and on Golfo Dulce) but they are quite a trek to get there. The staff at Bosque were always super-friendly and helpful. And the food was very good, considering we were in so remote a location (although we would have liked to have seen fish on the menu more than the one occasion that it was available). Be prepared that this place is off the grid, so no hairdryers and no air-con, even though it is quite humid. Sleep with the sounds of the jungle all around you!
