That is a hard one to answer when everyday was such a great experience. The beauty of Costa Rica is that it's only a small country but it is so diverse. From Caribbean to the Pacific, from cloud forrest to rain forrest, from plains to volcanic areas all in a matter of a few ours drive or boat......Travelling between places was really great, comfortable air conditioned vehicles most of which had wifi access during the journeys. All of the tours were memorable - probably the highlight was being on the beach in Tortuguero when a nest of Green Turtle hatchlings started to dig themselves out and scamper down the beach to the ocean.

Tribes Overall:

The best holiday we have ever had and which far exceeded all of our expectations.

Every destination on the tour was like a wonderful mini holiday that all joined together into a most memorable adventure.

Tribes Service:

Tribes were fantastic from the outset - Tracy giving me all the help I needed to combine what I wanted to do ( for example booking my own flights) and catering for special needs (for example arranging for my wife to go on an alternative tour at the same time that the rest of us did the hanging bridges). Over in Costa Rica - they handled all the ground transport and arrangements brilliantly and on the 2 occasions I had need to contact them via email they responded within a couple of minutes.

All of our guides were very knowledgable but Rafael in Tortuguero probably took top spot for his overall knowledge and organisational skills. All of the drivers arrived at the expected time (or slightly early) they were friendly, good drivers, polite and would always be willing to stop to point out something of give us a photo oppurtinity.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

Overall I would say that the Costa Rican people seem to be very very proud of their country, and the foresight of their politicians in the past to make decisions that have turned the country into what it is today - 100% renewable electricity generation, over 30% of land area protected in National Parks. No army necessary etc etc.
The numbers of tourists seem to be increasing now but they are being careful to limit numbers for example going into the Monteverdi cloud forrest.

Parador Resort and Spa

Costa Rica

Our 2nd stay there - hopefully not our last. A resort that literally has everything - a top quality location, it's own trails, its full of wildlife ( Iguanas, sloths, Macaws, Cara-Cara's, Howlers and Squirrel monkeys etc etc, it has every comfort going from great accommodation, games rooms to gym, from wonderful pools to mini-golf. Great food and bars, live music and stunning views. Like Lomas del Volcan - I can't praise it enough.
