Holiday review by Miss Christine Waddington
Name: Miss Christine Waddington
Date of trip: 09/11/2019
Number of people: 2
Walking through Rainbow Valley in the Atacama Desert in late afternoon when the rocks were a wonderful mixture of greens, reds and blues - amazing! When the sun (finally) broke through the clouds in Torres del Paine and we could see the snow-topped mountains clearly for the first time The first sight of the Moai at the quarry on Easter Island Enjoying the Chilean wines!
Tribes Overall:
Other than the slight "hiccup" in Punta Arenas all the travel arrangements went according to plan. None of the three main destinations - Atacama, Patagonia & Easter Island - fell short of expectations and, in fact, exceeded them in each case.
Tribes Service:
Paul's suggested itinerary was perfect, especially the suggested stop-overs at the Holiday Inn in Santiago. The information provided pre-holiday was detailed and very useful.
Special thanks to Amanda and Nadia in Punta Arenas for sorting out the travel issue from the airport to the Rio Serrano.
Guides:
The guide and driver in Santiago (Val and Lesley) were excellent and coped well with the difficulties in Santiago at the moment.
The guides in Atacama and Patagonia were also excellent - very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area, the wildlife, the geology etc.
One of the guides on Easter Island was good but the other just average.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
All the people we came in contact with seemed very committed to protecting the natural environment.
The places you stayed
Alto Atacama
Chile
My favourite hotel. The location, the grounds, the room and facilities and also the staff were wonderful.
Holiday Inn Santiago Airport
Chile
For what this was - a stop-over on 3 separate occasions - it was a very good hotel in a great location for the airport.
