We loved everything! There was a great variety of locations/hotels all offering something different. My husband particularly loved Tortuguero as that is where we saw the most wildlife. We saw sloths, cayman, boa constrictors, howler and capuchin monkeys, iguanas, toucans and lots of other birds. The highlight was seeing the huge turtles laying their eggs on the beach at night. We all loved the rafting. We managed to raft into Rio Tropicales as that was only grade 1 and 2 but we couldn't raft out because the rapids became more difficult further down river. Rio Tropicales was absolutely beautiful - we loved the remoteness and I loved having no wifi, although the kids didn't! Here it was all-out the river and nearby waterfalls and natural pools all within a few mins walk and with no people at them! At Arenal we loved the zipling and the additional rafting you booked for us. Rio Perdido was the best hotel and quite unusual having views out onto the canopy. The hot springs here were great. We were ready for the rest when we got to Bahia Del Sol. This was a great quite hotel on a lovely beach. The waves were just right - big enough to jump but not so big as to be dangerous. We visited Flamingo beach and Tamarindo and were glad our hotel was on Portrero beach. We went on a sunset Catarmaran cruise on the last day and that was fantastic.
