All of it! The geography of Selous was a revelation and the water of Lake Manze makes it a truly special place. The varied terrain was wonderful. The relative quietness of the park was a huge bonus; often not seeing anyone else for hours. Game highlights include; wild dogs, prides of lion, hundreds of giraffe, Civet, eland, bushbuck, giraffes crossing the lake and countless beautiful birds. A warthog chasing a pack of mongoose and tehn trying to climb a steep riverbank. Butiama beach is beautiful, unspoilt with gorgeous accommodation and the bustle of local fishermen nearby. Whale shark snorkeling is amazing and quite breathtaking.
A wonderful family experience throughout.
lake Manze was superb with an authentic feeling camp ( no electricity - fantastic), enthusiastic staff and deeply knowledgeable and passionate guides.
Eating all together under starlight with fires burning to keep animals away was thrilling and how they manage to produce such delicious food is a miracle.
we saw many game species and especially loved the wild dogs and giraffes crossing the lake on our boat safari.
Butiama Beach on Mafia was tranquil and relaxing. We had the beach almost to ourselves!
Once again the staff we delightful and the atmosphere was perfect.
Whale shark snorkling was a huge thrill.
The accommodation was lovely and just what we had hoped for.
Tracy was very thoughtful and patient with me and certainly quickly got the measure of what we wanted.
All was very efficient and we felt well informed throughout.
I like the Vamoos app
Imarni and Kamkumba were excellent at Lake Manze. Imarni's knowledge was impressive and his enthusiasm infectious with a lovely sense of humor. Kamkumba was a wonderfully safe and considerate driver. We valued them both highly.
Ayoub (boat safari) was equally knowledgeable and helpful.
All staff at Butiama were excellent but in particular one of the managers Ali and Dumo(?spelling) who found the Whale sharks for us.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
We felt minimal impact in the camps and employing local people (mostly)
