The highlight was probably the Tortuguero National Park. It was so different to anywhere we had visited before and was lovely to see the wildlife (monkeys, sloths, snakes, crocodiles, so many different birds, frogs) in a natural jungle environment. It was great that there were no cars and all travel was by boat. The guides were very good, the boat tour and night jungle tours were fantastic. The area around the Arenal Volcano was so pretty and we were lucky to see the the summit of the volcano with no cloud. La Fortuna was a pretty little town with good local restaurants. We loved trecking through the forest over the hanging bridges. The drive up to Monteverde in our 4x4 was exciting (miles of bumpy potholed dirt track roads) and the scenery spectacular. We loved watching the hummingbirds.

Tribes Overall:

We had a fantastic holiday visiting San Jose, Tortuguero National Park, Arenal Volcano, Monteverde and Playa Potrero. The locals were very friendly, the wildlife and scenery stunning and varied. We felt very safe driving across the county in our 4x4. The holiday exceeded our expectations.

Tribes Service:

Alex was really professional and put together a package of locations and hotels that suited our needs perfectly.

Guides:

We were looked after very well by all the local representatives and guides. In particular the guide we had at Tortuguero National Park was very knowledgeable and interesting.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

The rainforest and and cloud forest areas were pristine. We hope our holiday helps maintain the natural environment and local people employed.

Had a one-night stay. Good location, lovely room, nice bar.

Evergreen Lodge

Tortuguero National Park

We loved this place. A cabin in the jungle with a veranda and rocking chair (no TV, no AC). Cabins well spaced so we felt immersed in the jungle. Food surprisingly good for all inclusive.

Lomas del Volcan

Arenal

Beautiful location and gardens overlooking the volcano. Good restaurant. Close to lots of attractions and pleasant town of La Fortuna. Watched hummingbirds from veranda.

Great view from bedroom balcony. Fine dining restaurant. Excellent craft beer from own brewery.

Bahia del Sol

Playa Potrero, Guanacaste

A boutique hotel set in lush gardens adjacent to the beach. A good reasonably priced restaurant. Beach is sandy, uncrowded and ideal for swimming. Lovey in the evening to view the pelicans diving for fish and watching the beautiful sunset.
