Holiday review by Mr. Alan Key

Name: Mr. Alan Key

Date of trip: 28/02/2019

Number of people: 2

As mentioned our primary reason for going to the Torre del Paine was to see pumas, this was better than that as we were able to get close to them within twenty feet and walk alongside them, watch them feed on their kill also from twenty feet or so on two occasions- fabulous encounters. The scenery and other wildlife was also great.

Tribes Overall:

The trip was excellent throughout, the sights of both the Atacama Desert and Patagonia were wonderful, travelling in a small party as a private group gave us excellent opportunities to stop and take photos along the way.
The return visit to Easter Island was also enjoyed, its a mystical place. Hotel disappointing though.
The star event though without a doubt was getting close - and I mean close- to Pumas the main reason for the trip. To walk alongside a puma with less than twenty feet between us was both exhilarating and a memorable event.

Tribes Service:

Paul Cook gave me some good advise and organised this trip without any hitches
We have not booked with Tribes previously for our wildlife trips and must say that we shall definitely recommend them to others. The organisation was superb, service locally and in Chile was excellent and the trip exceeded our expectations so thank you Tribes and Paul Cook in particular for the arrangements. The app that Tribes use Vamoos is very good when wifi service was available.

All our guides and drivers were of a very high standard who were accommodating to our needs.
Diego and Marcial at the Ecolodge for the puma tracking far exceeded our expectations.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

Using Ecocamp as the base for the puma track gave back to the community of the Torre de Paine Puma protection project directly from our costs.

The places you stayed

EcoCamp Patagonia

Torres del Paine National Park

A really great place to stay, cosy and warm in the dome the log fire was very good. The food throughout was 5* including the pack lunch. Staff were very helpful and service excellent. only comment would be that the solar lighting on the boardwalk was not very good requiring torches at night.

Altiplanico Easter Island guest room

Altiplanico Rapa Nui

This hotel is one of the top hotels on the island especially for the sunset view. The lodges were large with plenty of space however the condition of the accommodation required some TLC.
Advised to use bottled water this was only available if purchased!
