Gosh, so many different things! For instance, the flight in a little airplane over the rainforest from San Jose to Tortuguero; such a fabulous location between ocean and wetlands. Amazing wildlife (especially the sloths) and birds (toucans and macaws amongst them), much of it enjoyed from the water. Despite the rain, the fabulous Arenal volcano region offered so much on our itinerary and we added to that an exhilarating zip lining experience over the canopy! The Pacific coast was stunning in the warm sun! We loved the night walks, incredible creatures, and the relaxation. All ending with a parasail.
Tribes Overall:
We felt our bespoke itinerary perfectly met the needs we had to experience the wonderful diversity of Costa Rica.
Tribes Service:
Absolutely yes! Alex listened to our requests and offered his ideas based on his experience. We realized when we were in country just how fortunate we were. They kept us up to speed on any slight changes to itinerary times.
Guides:
In general our guides were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, particularly Jacqueline in Tortuguero, Dahlia on the Hanging Bridges tour in Arenal and Jude? on our 1968 volcanic walk.
One disappointment we had was our guide Eric at the horse riding stables in La Fortuna; he was disinterested and didn't engage with us, nor offer any knowledge throughout our ride. There are many other stables there which we might suggest are used in the future.
All our pick ups were spot on timewise; it was so slick we felt we weren't wasting valuable holiday time waiting around.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
The local people were very proud of their country and understood the importance of sustainability. On the whole the country was very clean of rubbish and there was a huge desire to protect the environment and wildlife. We relished that!
