Holiday review by Mr. Ken Jollans
Name: Mr. Ken Jollans
Date of trip: 05/09/2018
Number of people: 2
The dunes at Sossusvlei - our daughter Becky, who has a form of cerebral palsy, was determined to get to the top (or at least, what we told her was the top) of Dune 45 and it was great to experience. The apple pie at Solitaire. The road to Walvis Bay (100 miles of nothing). Sundowners, especially at Erongo (where Becky again managed to clamber over the rocks). Etosha, elephants bathing, zebras and springboks everywhere etc etc. Rhinos at Otjiwa. Our twin girls celebrating their 25th birthday and being serenaded (if that's the word) at breakfast by all the hotel staff
Tribes Overall:
We had a fabulous holiday, thanks so much for organising it for us!
Tribes Service:
Realy good. We knew from the start that we were late in booking and that our options might be limited as a result, but Sinead communicated well and was very helpful throughout, also when our plane was delayed by over 12 hours in terms of contacting the hotel and car hire etc.
Guides:
We didn't have guides for most of the trip, we just used guides for game drives as appropriate (who were generally good or very good)
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
To be fair this wasn't something we considered at any great length. I guess the environmental impact of long distance flights is always bad, and driving a 4 x4 for 2,000 miles ins't great either. On the other hand we were hopefully helping the local economy.
The places you stayed

Kulala Desert Lodge
Sossusvlei
Top top place, really friendly, fabulous desert location. It was bloomin' cold but we loved the unexpected hot water bottles. Outstanding.

Strand Hotel
Swakopmund
Really good hotel. The weather was unfortunately rubbish so the seaside location couldn't really be appreciated (cool, foggy). Good bars and restaurants.
