Tribes Overall:

it was planned to be a memorable and unique holiday and that's how it turned out so we were delighted.

Tribes Service:

Paul was endlessly patient and knowledgable in answering my many random questions. The Vamoos app was also great. I'd certainly use Tribes again.

Both our guides (Victor at Sani and Juan on the Beluga) were first class. Knowledgable, enthusiastic and personable they were pivotal to our enjoyment of the holiday. All the local reps, especially Gloria, who did the airport/hotel pick ups and their drivers were also great.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

It's difficult to know precisely what effect tourism has, especially in the Galapagos. Having said that I was pleasantly surprised see how relatively pristine the islands were given the footfall.
As for Sani Lodge, that felt authentic and low impact and if it helps the local community and educates more people about rainforest biodiversity then that can only be a good thing.

Staff could have been a bit more personable given how small/"boutique" it was. At times they seemed to be going through the motions. Also would be good to have a clear steer about the safety of walking out at night in that area to find a restaurant. The guide suggested it wasn't safe if we went beyond a fairly confined area so we ate in the hotel both nights.

Sani Lodge

Fabulous location, great staff and appropriate accommodation for an eco lodge. The fact that the power goes off for large parts of the day and night underlines the eco nature of the lodge and wasn't a problem.

Galapagos Islands

Felt very at home. Wonderful crew and great plentiful food. But cabins 6 and 7 need modernising and refurbishment. You pay for the windows by having a microscopic bathroom and next to no storage space. Just a few hooks on the walls would be a start, especially as most of the clothes hangers in the small cupboard which passed for a wardrobe were broken. However the charm of the boat overall and the super niceness of the crew more than made up for this. Special appreciation for Ivan - the epitome of a "maitre d"
