Holiday review by Mr. James Burnett

Name: Mr. James Burnett

Date of trip: 26/04/2018

Number of people: 2

There were a lot: the Giant Otters, the Howler Monkeys, the range of birds, getting to the top of the stairs to reach the tree platform 40 metres up ( touch and go I'd make it) and then seeing the top of the canopy with birds and monkeys, seeing a full grown Anaconda. The Hummingbirds, the Toucans, the beauty of the cloud forest. Seeing the Galapagos for the first time after all that planning and anticipation, swimming with such a range of beautiful fishes and sharks and Golden rays, the giant tortoises, the frigatebirds. All of it really.

Tribes Overall:

I loved the places I visited, the wildlife I saw and the people that I met. It definitely met all my expectations. I am very happy.

Tribes Service:

Thank you for arranging it!

Guides:

All of the guides that I met and guided me were great. First class and new their stuff.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

The Napo Lodge made it clear that they were glad that I had come to visit as by doing so it made it possible for them to stay independent and support them in keeping the Yasuni Reserve going.
I got the impression that the Galapagos felt similar though it wasn't said. As far as a I could see a lot of effort had been made to ensure that the impact of tourism was controlled and that the majority of all the islands were left to nature and untouched by tourism. We were not allowed to touch any animal, take anything from the islands or leave anything behind. Exactly as it should be!
As far as I could see The Bellavista cloud lodge had spent years and a lot of effort keeping primary forest pristine and allow secondary forest to regenerate. Again I felt that as a tourist I was supporting, and appreciating, that effort and the people working there.

A very nice hotel located in the old town, which I liked very much.

The wildlife, staff, location and facilities were excellent. Would have liked to have stayed longer if I could :-)

Ecuador

I was very happy at Bellavista and would gladly go back again. The area is beautiful, the birding excellent, there was good food and excellent guides. The dome, their original building, looked a little sad and underused.

Beluga

Galapagos Islands

I had a super week on the Beluga. The guide and the staff were really excellent and the wildlife outstanding. My first real go at snorkelling outside of the UK - it was superb.
