All the wildlife we got to see. The different areas we saw, it is a very diverse country.
It was a truly wonderful stay. Super experience all round.
Hire car company: Superb, service, provided a charged emergency phone. We felt safe at all times The satnav was out of date though and we used our phone in the end. Good job we had maps down loaded. We mentioned this to them and they agreed.
All as expected. Vamoos app was really useful. Comprehensive info.
Guides at hotels that we met were great, knowledgable, passionate about their country and helped us spot dome amazing wildlife
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
Beneficial to locsls in terms of bringing in income through tourism. Tortuguero especially.
The places you stayed
Near San Jose
Chayote Lodge was fabulous. Amazing rooms (although no hair dryer). Lovely balcony and views. Good for wildlife spotting in the trees.
No blackout blinds.
No AC but it wasn't needed. Food fresh and tasty, breakfast to order not a buffet.
Restaurant and bar shut at 10 sharp though, not sure if this was seasonal.
Jose our guide was really great. We hired him for a day and learned so much.
Great, everything we needed, rooms spacious, views good. Shuttle service to reception from rooms welcome as it is on a big hill and rooms are quite far from reception.
Studio was good, very helpful staff and good food. Handy for airport. Rooms lovely, black out curtains. AC welcome. Hair dryer broke, it was replaced within minutes. Food nice, we ate here twice.
Truly amazing. AC was a godsend. Food and guides (Lius and Luis) great. Could have stayed here for weeks. Flight in was part of the experience. Highly recommend the flight. The activities included were wonderful, extra ones we booked (kayaking, turtles etc) were really fun. Fab location for wildlife spotting .
As with everywhere, bar shut at 10pm. Not sure if this is seasonal or cultural.
