The tour of the coffee plantation was exceptional. Our guide was knowledgeable and unhurried in his delivery. We all enjoyed this very much and have come away with amazing knowledge about coffee. Lomas del Volcan was also amazing. The location, the surroundings and the lodgings - all five stars for us. The tours to the waterfall, and Arenal hanging bridges were extremely enjoyable and rewarding. We also organised a walking tour of the volcano.
Actually, we hovered between "good" and "excellent" as overall it was excellent, with just one or two hiccups.
Would use Tribes again and recommend them to others. Overall this holiday was eventful, positive and entertaining. It enabled us to undertake activities that we would never have considered before which is very positive.
Excellent and good - some guides were better than others but overall, everyone was a great asset to our holiday.
The places you stayed
Near San Jose
Spacious and clean accommodation in a tranquil setting. Charming staff and excellent food. Highly recommended.
Again, spacious and very clean. Outstanding setting. The food was good and the staff were friendly. Highly recommended.
Playa Potrero, Guanacaste
A tired hotel with scruffy edges. Staff were on the whole miserable and unfriendly. On arrival we were offered substandard rooms due to one of the rooms having no AC. We tussled for a while and viewed several rooms and settled on two that were appropriate, clean and smart and as per our travel details. The food was disappointing so we ate out locally. Would not recommend.
Average only because for a one night stay, this was placed too far away from the airport. Overall however, the service and food were good but we were not there long enough to form a firm opinion. Would finish by stating that the AC did not work so our sleep was uncomfortable.
