The flora and fauna; the diversity of the Paramo area deceives to be better known, tho perhaps we should keep it to ourselves!
The trip in the Galapagos was wonderful. We not only enjoyed the islands, but the boat we booked was perfect for us.
However there were various problems with our trekking trip in the north of Ecuador.
I'm not sure our trekking trip was familiar to Tribes, and that may have contributed to the problems
The guides on both our trips were knowledgeable and helpful
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
One is concerned about adding to pressure on a place like Galapagos, but the trips were as low impact as could be arranged, and in the trekking trip especially we were pleased to see our money going into the local economy. We were disappointed to discover that our National
Park Fee goes to the central government, and not for the direct benefit of the park itself.
The places you stayed
This was the best hotel we stayed in in two months in South America - delightful!
We'd love to give it excellent, were it not for engine/generator noise, which seemed inescapable, though one got used to it.
