We were so sad to leave the Makanyane Safari Lodge - we were the only people staying there for our final evening so it was just the two of us for the evening's game drive. Having a champagne toast in the middle of the bush, and getting up close to a jaguar just in time to watch her jumping out of a tree, were real highlights.
We had a wonderful honeymoon overall, especially our time in the Makanyane Safari Lodge. All the arrangements went very smoothly, and all our accommodation completely lived up to our expectations.
Our service from Sinead at Tribes was faultless. We already felt very well looked after, but then we had to completely change all our bookings with just a week's notice. Sinead couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating of our requests - she somehow managed to find us nee bookings that we were happy with, and really saved our honeymoon!
Trevor, the guide who took us out at the Makanyane Safari Lodge was exceptional. His knowledge, and obvious respect for, the animals was obvious. We really enjoyed every trip that he took us out on.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
The Makanyane Safari Lodge clearly cared about the environment and wildlife around it - we felt that they took their social and environment responsibility very seriously.
That was less obvious in the other accommodation we stayed in (but that's because we stayed in places Tribes doesn't usually deal with after having to change our bookings at very short notice).
The places you stayed
Our suite was incredible - private, but with wide views over the river, and very luxurious! I don't know how they managed to consistently make such excellent food so far away from any towns, but it was like eating in a 5* restaurant for every meal. We saw more wildlife than we ever expected to, and got the sense that the guides really care about the animals there. Finally, we could not have been looked after better by the staff there - I had some medical issues while we were there (not related to the lodge in any way) and all the staff went hugely above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was well looked after. We were so sad to leave and would recommend this lodge in a heartbeat.
