The train ride from Delhi to Jaipur was an experience and we met some interesting people en route. We were very pleased to be escorted right to our seats on the train by the local representative and then amazed to be met by another representative the minute we set foot on the platform in Jaipur. The evening ceremony at the Hindu temple in Bateshwar was certainly memorable. This was followed by a peaceful boat ride up the river past the temples at sunset. I really enjoyed seeing the horses at the animal fair although I felt the guide was keen to get us away from there quickly as were the only tourists around. He kindly took us to buy fireworks for Diwali in the local village and then let them off back at the Safari lodge. Visiting a local family in a village on the way to the Chambal river was enlightening and they were very welcoming, I did struggle with the very sweet milky Indian tea though! The Chambal river cruise was also very enjoyable because of the wildlife seen, the enthusiasm of our guide and the special environment.
Our holiday far exceeded our expectations. From beginning to end we were treated like royalty by all the local Indian representatives, guides and driver. Their attention to detail, consideration for our safety, punctuality, patience and determination that we should get the most out of our time in India was amazing. They gave us insight into so many facets of city and rural life.
From my first contact with Paul I felt confident that I had chosen the right company to arrange our holiday. I was impressed with the speed of response to my initial inquiry and after a few tweaks to the itinerary felt positive that we had a well-balanced itinerary which would work for us. Any queries were quickly answered by Paul and I was pleased with all the documentation received prior to our trip, it was very comprehensive.
All of our guides were knowledgeable and keen to ensure that we got the most out our sightseeing. Our guide in Jaipur giave us options and tailor made the day to what we wanted to do. We enjoyed just drinking coffee with him at Amber Fort and he took us to a rooftop restaurant for a light lunch which was very relaxed and gave us the opportunity to learn more about life in India.
At Chambal Safari lodge the guide really went out of his way to show us many aspects of life in the countryside. We saw many species of birds and animals and for bird watchers this would have been an amazing experience.
Special mention must go to Parmod, our driver, who took such good care of us throughout our holiday. Although the roads are crazy we always felt so safe with Parmod. He was kind, helpful, enthusiastic, always punctual and very patient, especially when we got caught up in the shops!
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
The holiday opened our eyes to the environmental issues India faces and these are massive. It is hard to imagine how things can improve even though India has the fastest growing economy.
The places you stayed
We enjoyed our stay at this atmospheric hotel. The Sevilla restaurant was great and had a lovely ambience, even though it wasn't very Indian!
Our favourite hotel. It had such character and was very comfortable. The swimming pool was beautifully situated and we just wish we had longer to relax there.
A lovely peaceful environment where we relaxed between sightseeing. The food was the best we had in India and the staff really took pride in their cooking.
It would have been nice to have had the option of a light lunch, such as soup or a sandwich rather than the full buffet.
The staff were lovely. The Sevilla was a lovely evening out.
Restaurant fab, staff a bit disorganised in a charming way, food terrific.
Spa was just great, can recommend it.
Whole experience awesome. No tv, phone, and limited wi fi with drinks around the fire in the evening was all so very relaxing. I loved the food here. The staff very organised and caring. Chef took us into the kitchen to show us round.
