I'm a parrot lover and the macaw and parrot viewing at both Manu and Tambopata was wonderful, still brings tears to my eyes!
Tribes Overall:
Wonderful country and the itinerary was exactly what I had hoped it would be.
Tribes Service:
Paul pulled together a great tour. His advice on the order and duration was excellent.
Guides:
All the guides throughout the holiday were really good.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
As always on these types of holidays it is distressing how many plastic bottles are thrown away. I was pleased that in the jungle there were reusable water bottles and filtration systems.
The places you stayed
Manu Wildlife Centre
Peru
It's a long way to get there and it's pretty basic when you do but the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere is great. Living by candlelight adds a different dimension. The staff were lovely, best food of the holiday: healthy, beautifully presented and plenty of it.
Refugio Amazonas
Peru
I had a lovely room here - well worth your recommended upgrade. Service great. Food good - homely and healthy but a bit mass produced. Being open to the elements it got me over my fear of bugs!
Tambopata Research Centre
Peru
I loved the feel of this place. Really welcoming and like being on camp. Food was good. Macaws hanging around and close which was lovely.
