Amazing to arrive at a high pass to find cushions spread out for you under a shady tree with the cook ready with mint tea and lunch being cooked for you. You soon learn not to try to eat it all!
All accommodation really nice. People were extremely friendly and helpful. Very interesting area for walking. It was the first time we had been to Morocco and we'd certainly consider going again.
A few points in the pre-departure information needed clarification but Paul responded quickly to our queries so quite happy there.
In general more guidance on tipping would have been useful. The information mixes up Dollars and Dhirams and doesn't make it clear that you are expected to tip Muleteers, drivers, cooks etc as well as your guide. Difficult to have enough small change.
Walking guide Rachid helpful and knowledgeable. Good company. Great insight into local life. Driver friendly courteous and safe. City guide also very good.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
The local economy clearly benefits from tourism and some of this does trickle down to the poorest people you encounter. So far the environmental impact of holidays like this seems to be minimal. You see a lot of plastic rubbish in and around the Berber villages but that's how they live - it's not being left by tourists.
The places you stayed
Really nice place, and the best food on our trip
Excellent location and very stylish and luxurious. Probably more deluxe than we would have chosen. Would rather have a kettle in our room than have to call room service.
