The lemurs are fantastic, and there are lovely birds, we saw 57 different birds many of which were endemic to Madagascar. Nosy Saba was fantastic.
We have had a wonderful time in spite of several problems with arranging travel and accommodation at last minute. Madagascar is a place that we are really pleased we have visited but most probably will not be returning.
Tribes and Island Continent Tours looked after us so well that even when Madagascar Air cancelled 2 flights we were cared for.
Tribes had warned us about travel difficulties and they had been right possibly rather optimistic, roads and flights have to be experienced to be believed.
Because of my restricted mobility there were some problems in arranging our itinerary that had not been apparent at first.
Thank you for sorting everything out and i think you came up trumps with the final arrangements.
We stupidly hadn't expected it to be cold at night.
Very knowledgeable and helpful.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
Madagascar is very underdeveloped and it is worrying to think what the future holds.
They obviously need investment and responsible tourism would be beneficial but the travel difficulties seem an insuperable problem.
The places you stayed
Does what it says on the tin. It is a an airport hotel with a lovely swimming pool. The hotel was very obliging about flexibilty about providing rooms when flights cancelled and helping with laundry.
We began to feel at home each time we arrived. The food was ok but uninspired. Rooms rather basic but clean and the staff very friendly.
Huge rooms with huge bathrooms all set on the hillside so up slopes and steps.
We had a very poor greeting when we arrived and perhaps this coloured our stay.
Overall the hotel seemed tired and run down.
But the Andasibe parks were great and our guide Edwin was very skillful.
South, near Berenty
Superb spot by the river. Lovely tent with a large porch. Superb staff who looked after us very well, they even gave me an old table to use for my painting.
Good outings including sundowners by a huge baobab tree.
NOT ANJAJAVY BUT NOSY SABA
This was a heavenly island. A 40 minute flight from Nosy Be landed us in tropical paradise. Just one hotel on the island and when we arrived 12 guests including us. Huge saltwater swimming pool. Rooms in bungalows with large porch with hammock. Lovely room and bathroom. Spotlessly clean. We were pampered the staff were helpful and attentive.
Lovely food especially the fish and bread.
Sea warm and calm, Resident lemurs and several birds. We would go back there if it didn't involve all the hastle of travel.
