Holiday review by Mrs Celia Waldron
Name: Mrs Celia Waldron
Date of trip: 15/04/2015
Number of people: 2
Tribes Overall:
Ecuador is an incredibly diverse and fascinating country especially when the Galapagos are added in. Exceeded all expectations.
Tribes Service:
I was a little disappointed that it took several calls from me to convince the travel consultant that I did know what time I wished to travel, and indeed from where I wished to travel home. I also had to ask for a written itinerary, which still had the wrong flight details. It would have been helpful to me, as an infrequent traveller, to have been advised that seats can be booked in advance of check in. A nice touch by Tribes would have been some contact in the days immediately before travel to check if all was well and organised. I was slightly surprised to have the feedback form sent before my return.
Guides:
The local guide and driver from Quito to Cuenca were excellent, couldn't have been improved upon. The guide for Cuenca and the drive to Guayaquil was a bit abrupt and we really had to keep asking for information. Also, we were a little surprised at the restaurant we were taken to for lunch, while more than happy to eat locally a roadside establishment was possibly a step too far. The guide on the boat was not the best the first week, however seemed to improve the second week.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
Contributing to the local economy and certainly the Galapagos National Park depends upon tourism for much of its funding.
