Snorkelling in the Galapagos so much better than we expected. At one point we had penguins, sea lions, cormorants and about 25 turtles in the water with us all within a few metres.
Visiting Fernandina island - totally pristine island with flightless cormorants sitting on nests almost on the path, and having to concentrate hard not to tread on iguanas.
Despite much hype, the Galapagos did not disappoint. The logistics worked faultlessly and the guides in Quito were friendly and genuinely helpful.
Very efficient and knowledgeable, and very competitive priced vs. other agents offering the idential package. Only two small comments: 1. We didn't know quite enough details about the times/flights from Quito onwards. 2. We didn't realize we had to pay the national park entry fee ($350 for us) and the tips were higher than we expected (and you indicated) so we ran out of US$ cash which was a little tricky.
Note from Tribes: These points have been followed up and clarifications made.
Knowledgeable interesting and helpful guides in Quito. Went the extra mile to help us.
Fantastic guide on the boat - Juan Tapia - incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
I am not sure we were adding much, but we were impressed by the way the national park is managed and the seriousness with which all the guides take their responsibilities.
The places you stayed
Only a short stay - very good location and friendly staff.
Fantastic experience. Very friendly and competent crew, great food, great atmosphere. Mainly very comfortable although there are differing qualities of cabins on the boat - would have been good to know which cabins we had signed up to (in our case the smallest double bed on the boat). It wouldn't have changed our decision but would have been nice to know. I would definitely recommend this boat to anyone.
