The highlights of the Serengeti were seeing the big herds of game and an amazing afternoon watching a cheetah with her 4 cubs, catching and eating a young wildebeeste, then sleeping under our Landrover! Our photos of this event are amazing!

In the Selous we were priviledged to watch a party of 10 elephants including babies crossing the River Rufiji, as we watched from the boat. We held our breath, we were quite close and didn't want them to get wind of us. They emerged one at a time on the bank in front of us and immediately sprayed themselves with sand! It was a magical moment followed by surprise champagne for us on the bank. Wonderful!

Tribes Overall:

We are still reliving our amazing holiday through our many photos (thousands). We were extremely impressed with the care that was taken to match our requirements with our actual experiences.
The holiday exceeded expectations!

Tribes Service:

The visit made to Otley to plan our trip was extremely useful. The consultant was very experienced, with first hand knowledge. We particularly wanted to see the annual migration in the Serengeti. She produced maps that showed us the places to be at the right time.
All the information and details were spot-on.
Many thanks for arranging such a wonderful holiday.

Guides:

First 6 days towards and in the Serengeti: guide was excellent for wildlife in general and good for birds. Totally in charge of us, he was caring, friendly and good company.
In the Selous we had a guide and driver who did a good job and were keen to show us birds as requested.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

There were good relations with the Masai guides, as far as we could see.
We were impressed by the new road from Arusha to Ngorongoro which would have affected the locals for trade etc.
The reserves give better protection for the wildlife - they were very strict about access.

Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge private deck

Kirurumu Tarangire Lodge

Tanzania

We were surprised how far off the road it was!
The staff couldn't do enough for us - they were extremely kind and helpful. Our lodge was very comfortable and the food very good.
We particularly enjoyed the local botanical walk with the Masai guide early the next morning.

Plantation Lodge

Plantation Lodge

Tanzania

A very lovely tranquil spot! Extremely comfortable and very excellent food. It was nice to have a hotel for a night to sort ourselves out after such a long and hot journey!

Selous Impala camp, riverboat cruise

Selous Impala Camp

Tanzania

This was luxury camping but with the drama of the possibility of hippos under our tent platform at night! Everything was wonderful with walks, drives & boat-trips with many surprises. The camp manager was always helpful with all aspects of our stay. A great location!
