Going back to Lusaka where I was born and brought up, having not been back for 50 years was very special. We were given a wonderful driver who made it his mission to find all the places I wanted to seek out. Our visit to the South Luangwa Game Reserve was wonderful. We saw a huge variety of animals during the day and night, and learnt an enormous amount.
Shiwa Ngandu was somewhere I have wanted to go for a long time, and we were not disappointed. I was able to look into the archives and find my fathers signature in Shiwa's visitors book dated 1960. I had never been quite sure if he had been there or not. The house is a wonderful sight when you first arrive in the middle of nowhere. We will have many other wonderful memories, not to forget the fabulous Jacaranda trees, Flamboyant and Frangipan trees all in bloom.
It was a wonderful holiday and exceeded all our expectations
We were very happy with Tribes services. All our queries were answered. Many thanks to Tracy who made great choices for us.
We couldn't fault any of our guides. They bent over backwards to make everything special for us and were all absolutely delightful. Their knowledge of the area, animals, fauna and flora was second to none. We felt perfectly safe.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
In a country with limited job opportunities and a limited economy, it was good to see Zambia benefitting from well regulated tourism. Everywhere we went we were welcomed by the Zambians, and asked to come back.
The places you stayed
Wonderful welcome. We couldn't have been looked after better. The food was amazing - How do they do it? We had a good mix of socialising with others so that we could swap stories and time to ourselves. Loved it.
Again a wonderful welcome and we were really well looked after. A beautiful spot with so many exciting things to do near by. Very good food and extremely comfortable accommodation . Loved it.
