Snorkelling quietly alone in shallow, sunlight water, only to be disturbed by four Galapagos Penguins streaking by. Don't know who was more startled or pleased, me of them - but we had a magical time playing!
Witnessing the courtship dances of Waved Albatrosses and Blue Footed Boobies for ourselves in the wild felt v. special - particularly as we had seen them so many times on TV.
Tribes Overall:
Our expectations were high, but the reality was better!
Tribes Service:
Extremely good service from Paul Cook. Prompt response to emails, and lots of helpful suggestions to someone who knew what they were talking about. Helped us to understand the options available with limited time in a part of the world we don't know. We will recommend Tribes to our friends.
Guides:
Guides in Quito and on the Grace as we sailed around the Galapagos were all good. Knowledgeable and friendly.
We felt in good hands.
Social & Environmental Responsibility:
We felt it was good that this aspect of things was highlighted clearly by Tribes. Impressed by a) the way in which the impact of tourism on the Galapagos is being controlled and b) the community projects based at the Hacienda Zuleta.
The places you stayed

Patio Andaluz
Ecuador
A good hotel but for someone with limited time, it's the location which is brilliant. Although we appreciated the taxi and guide to take us up out of the city (great photos) we could walk everywhere we wanted to go in Old Quito from the hotel.

Grace
Galapagos Islands
Great boat - particularly liked the al fresco dining.
Excellent services from all and we felt very safe.
Very memorable.

Hacienda Zuleta
Ecuador
Wish we had had more time here and very happy that Paul recommended it.
Loads of activity options and very friendly service.
