Sitting a metre away from a small family of elephants as they drank from the waterhole at Mwamba camp.

Tribes Overall:

A fabulous return to South Luangwa. Wildlife sightings were more numerous and the guiding was again superb.
Although we have only had one previous stay at Shentons Camps we were treated like returning family and the teams were fantastic at making 8 days seem like a much longer and relaxing stay.

Tribes Service:

All connections and transfers worked seamlessly. We didn\'t have to think about a thing once we hit the ground in Lusaka.
After listening to the feedback of others in both camps who have been travelling to Africa and Zambia for far longer than we have, these camps fit our brief more than any of the other options in the park.

We had Mayem, Patrick and Vickson guiding us during our time. Mayem is perfect for someone like me who is a keen albeit purely amateur photographer. Positioning can be everything in getting that photo you want.
Patrick showed all his years of knowledge in predicting where and when the lions would catch their victim.
Vickson shared huge amounts of knowledge. He hasn't been guiding as long as Pat, but he still managed to get us close to the dominant male of the Hollywood pride just by recognising the absence of antelope in a lagoon.

Social & Environmental Responsibility:

Enjoy the fact that Shentons still use their own plot to grow the veg for the table.
Also in contrast to our experience in Uganda, re-useable water bottles for taking out on game drives area simple but important factor in reducing plastic.

The places you stayed

Taj Pamodzi

Taj Pamodzi

Did exactly what was needed. Good food, efficient transfers.
And we were able to leave luggage ensuring we had some clean clothes for the journey home.

Kaingo Camp main deck

Kaingo Camp

Excellent food and excellent guides. Laundry done same day (even when the local elephant has tried his best to steal it on his walk through camp).
All of the team made us feel welcome and going back was easy as everything was so familiar.

Chitenge bar at Mwamba Bush Camp

Mwamba Bush Camp

Still very special. Wouldn\'t hesitate to return.
Charlie and Matt were great hosts, and our fellow guests helped to make the experience; especially since we could join Meg\'s birthday celebration dinner in the bush. Best suited for those who are happy to spend hours sat in a hide waiting for visitors, rather than racing around chasing the tick list.
