Costa Verde Holidays
Experience the beauty of Brazil's beaches and rainforest on the Costa Verde between Rio and Sao Paolo.
The Costa Verde is the 280km stretch of coast between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo whose pleasantly laid-back feel is a welcome contrast to busy city life. This photogenic region of mountain, forest, beaches and ocean lends itself to land and water-based activities. Ilha Grande, one the best-known destinations, is an island which perfectly embodies the charms of the entire coast. The pretty historic port of Paraty is another popular attraction, one of the most charming and best-preserved towns in the country.
- Costa Verde's beaches: Indulge in some valuable holiday ‘me’ time on one of the many gorgeous beaches of the Costa Verde. Ilha Grande alone has over 100 beaches to choose from. There are lots of opportunities for snorkelling and diving as well as swimming and simply chilling.
- Walking & hiking: If you can tear yourself away from the beach, there are wonderful trails taking you into the Atlantic rainforest to see waterfalls and view wildlife such as monkeys, sloths and parrots. Many routes take in fishing villages and small bays, ideal for swim stops.
- Boating & kayaking: A cruise is a leisurely way to enjoy the beauty of the Costa Verde on your holiday. From the ocean, you can see the beaches, forests and mountains, all key elements of the region. If you feel more energetic, hire a kayak for some independent exploring, maybe stopping off at quiet coves. The fjord-like Saco de Mamangua is a wonderful place for kayaking.
- Explore Paraty: This UNESCO world heritage town was once a bustling colonial port. It is quieter today but retains much of its former grandeur. A walk around the cobbled streets reveals historic churches, gracious colonial mansions and an attractive waterfront.
