Arrive In Entebbe
You'll be met at the airport in Entebbe and driven to your guest house, where the rest of the day is free. This allows you to take life easy as recuperate from your flight, maybe enjoying a swim in the outdoor pool, and prepare for the exciting days ahead. There are restaurants nearby for lunch and dinner, or you can stay put and dine in the hotel.
Fly To Bwindi
Today you'll be driven to the domestic airport for the 90-minute flight to Kihihe near Bwindi. On arrival you'll be transferred to Buhoma Lodge, your home for the next 3 nights. Join other guests in the lounge or on the terrace as you unwind and enjoy your new surroundings.
Today is one you will never forget! Trekking to see the mountain gorillas is one of the best wildlife experiences you can possibly have. Depending on the family you are allocated to see, the trek could be as short as an hour but it could be 3-4 hours before you find them. Once you locate them you have one hour to spend in their enthralling company.
Gorilla Trekking Or Forest Walks
If you've opted for a second gorilla trek in Bwindi you'll do this today. If not, you have a choice of activities. Guides from the lodge can lead you on walks in the forest, or take you to a local village if you are interested in rural life. Back at the lodge you can catch up with some reading and chat to other travellers about their time in Uganda.
Drive To Ishasha
It's time for a change of scene, as you set off on a drive to the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey time is between 2 to 3 hours and includes a visit to the Ishasha Community Project where you can meet local people.
Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha
You have all day to enjoy the wildlife of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This includes elephant and many species of antelope, and keep an eye open, too, for the area's famous tree-climbing lions. You'll have the benefit of your guide's expertise to help you gain the most from your time on safari.
Queen Elizabeth National Park And Kazinga
Today you'll head to the north of the park, wildlife watching all the way. This region is quite different to the Ishasha area and includes the Kazinga Channel where you'll board a boat for a leisurely cruise to observe wildlife on the riverbanks watch the many species of birds that thrive here. You'll then continue the drive to your lodge.
This morning you'll have the opportunity to go chimpanzee trekking in Chamburu Gorge (optional). Later you'll drive further north to Kibale Forest, a journey of some 3 to 4 hours. After lunch and a rest at the lodge you'll have the chance to go on a walk with a guide in Bigodi swamp.
Chimp trekking can be more difficult than gorilla tracking as the chimps are often very active! You might find them feeding up in the trees, or they could be at ground level. Either way there is generally a lot of noise and action. It's a great experience! As with the gorillas, you get about one hour with them once you've located them, and the experience is utterly rewarding.
Today you head back to Entebbe, a drive of around 6 to 7 hours. If there's time you'll be able to stop at the market in Kampala for some souvenir shopping. You'll be taken to the international airport for your flight out. Please note do not book a flight departing Entebbe before 8 pm tonight, to be sure to make the flight.
