Day 1

Arrive in Dar es Salaam

You touch down on African soil in Dar es Salaam. You’ll be met by one of our representatives and be driven to your hotel where you can relax and recover from your long-haul flight. The hotel overlooks the beach and also has a pool which is always welcome on a warm day.


Day 2

Drive to Saadani

After a leisurely breakfast your driver will collect you and take you to Saadani National Park, East Africa’s only coastal preserve. You’ll stop off at Wami River for an exciting boat safari. Afterwards a game drive will take you through the park. A warm welcome awaits you at Simply Saadani Camp.

Day 3

In Saadani

Another day of safari awaits. Wake early and after a cup of coffee jump aboard the game drive vehicle and explore the preserve once more. A late breakfast will be served when you return to camp. After some down time and lunch, you can walk down to the wildlife research centre and learn about the interesting conservation projects the camp is involved with.

Day 4

Drive to Mikumi National Park

A change of scene is on the cards for today. You will be transferred by road from Saadani to Mikumi National Park. The views are stunning, you’ll pass through the town of Morogoro with beautiful vistas of the Uluguru Montains. Your home for tonight will be Vuma Hills Tented Camp. You’ll arrive in time for a late lunch. This afternoon if you wish you can relax in camp or enjoy a game drive in the park before sitting down to a sumptuous dinner and then retiring for the night.

Day 5

Drive to Nyerere

Today starts early with breakfast. Bags packed you depart Vuma Hills on a morning game drive in Mikumi National Park, which continues on into Nyerere National Park, formerly the Selous Game Reserve. This is the largest reserve in Africa, the landscape is amazing. Your journey continues as you travel further south an inland towards your destination. Lunch will be a picnic affair en route, at a scenic spot. Arrive at the lodge late afternoon to a warm welcome. You can unpack and relax in your room before joining the other guests for drinks and dinner.

Day 6

On safari in Selous

An exciting day of adventure is in store. You'll leave camp early, and take your breakfast and lunch with you. It starts with a game drive in the park and then you'll take a boat safari on Lake Tagalala too. Selous is known for its rivers and lakes, and it's great to have a boat safari for a different way of enjoying the wildlife. This will be a fabulous day in the wilderness of Selous.

Day 7

On safari in Selous, and meet local Maasai

After breakfast head of into the bush on foot with a knowledgeable guide. You will be focusing on the smaller things, it's an exciting way to spend time in the African wilderness. Lunch will be waiting for you back at the lodge. This afternoon you will be taken on a fascinating visit to meet a friend of the lodge, a Maasai chief called Saita. This is a very non-commercial experience, so it's a lovely and relaxed way to find out a bit about the Maasai culture and way of life in this region.

Day 8

Fly to Zanzibar

Another change of location, and a change of pace. You will fly over to the island of Zanzibar, arriving by late morning A driver will transfer you to your beach resort in time for a late lunch. The Zanzibari is in the north of the island and is a great place to chill out.

Days 9 & 10


You have two full days to relax on the beach or by the pool, or perhaps to explore the neighbouring village of Nungwi. If you want pampering, a range of spa treatments are available, and you could also consider the yoga or reiki. For the more active, try snorkelling or kayaking perhaps, and there is a PADI dive centre close by.

Day 11


Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and perhaps a final walk along the beach. Whatever time your flight, you will be taken to the airport in good time for your journey home.
