

Day 1
Arrive Delhi
You will be met on arrival at Delhi airport and transferred to the Colonels Retreat, your home from home in the city, in a quiet residential district. The rest of the day is free for you to relax after your flight.

Day 2
Delhi Tour & Train To Udaipur
This morning you will be collected from your hotel for a full day tour of both Old and New Delhi. The tour will include sites such as The Red Fort, Jami Masjid, markets, New India Gate, Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar. If time allows you will also have a rickshaw ride in Old Delhi. Later you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the station for the overnight train to Udaipur.

Day 3
Tour Of Udaipur
Your train is scheduled to arrive in Udaipur early this morning and you will meet your driver who will be with you for the next 10 days. After checking in to the hotel, you have a morning tour of this attractive lake city. There are many fine havelis, temples and palaces, including the City Palace, the largest in Rajasthan. The famous Lake Palace is perhaps the city's best known site, located in the middle of Lake Pichola. The afternoon is free, maybe explore the alleys and cafes or perhaps opt to relax at the hotel.

Day 4
Ranakpur Temples And Rohet
This morning you leave the city behind and begin the 5 hour drive to Rohet. On the way you have the opportunity to stop at the beautiful Jain temples at Ranakpur, dating from around the 15th century. There are said to be 1,444 columns inside the main temple, each with its own unique carvings, supporting elaborating carved ceilings and domes. Continue to Rohet.

Day 5
Bishnoi Village
This morning you have the opportunity to visit a Bishnoi village by jeep. The Bishnoi people have a strong love - almost worship - of animals, trees and plants. As a result of centuries of conservation, trees and wild animals thrive in the arid landscape. Herds of animals such as blackbuck and chinkara roam the landscape, and the Bishnois have been crucial to their survival, even allowing them to eat their crops freely. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 6
To Jaisalmer
Continuing your exploration of Rajasthan, you head out into the Thar Desert today, finally arriving at Jaisalmer (about a 5 hour drive). The city is famous for its fort which stands on a ridge dominating the city and can be seen from some miles away. Settle in to your hotel and relax as the rest of the day is free.

Day 7
Jaisalmer Tour And Sand Dunes
A guided tour of the city this morning. The fort is reached by a steep cobbled road. Inside there are several Jain temples open to the public and filled with incredible carvings and sculptures. Outside the fort, there are many fine havelis or mansions, carved out of golden sandstone which glows in the desert sunlight. The afternoon is free and in the evening you have an excursion to Sam Sand Dunes in the Thar Desert. Return to your hotel.

Day 8
To Jodhpur
Today your driver will take you to Jodhpur, a journey of about 5 hours. There are options for stops on the way, as your driver is entirely at your disposal. On arrival at your hotel in the city, relax and settle in.

Day 9
Tour Of Jodhpur
This morning you have a tour of the city. Jodhpur is known as the Blue City because of the blue painted buildings that occupy the region north of the fort and make a startling contrast to the desert colours beyond. The most notable feature of Jodhpur is Mehrangarh Fort which sits on a ridge overlooking the city. The fort is famous for its fine stone carvings, and has a commanding view over the town. The rest of the day is free, with the driver at your disposal if you wish.

Day 10
To Jaipur Via Pushkar
Your travels continue with the drive to Jaipur (about 5 to 6 hours). You have the option to stop off at the lovely town of Pushkar en-route, which makes for a relaxing stop. Pushkar is mostly known for its annual camel fair, but is well worth visiting in its own right. Set around a holy lake with around 400 blue-hued temples there is an undeniable charm to the town, and it makes a pleasant contrast to the larger, busier cities.

Day 11
Amber Fort & Jaipur
This morning you leave the city for the short journey to Amber Fort. This imposing fort is ornately decorated inside with walls covered with murals, frescoes, paintings as well as intricate carvings, mosaics and elaborate mirror work. We return to Jaipur for a guided tour of the Pink City. Highlights include the palace museum, Sawai Jai Singh's fascinating observatory Jantar Mantar and the beautiful Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds.

Day 12
Fatehpur Sikri, Agra & The Taj Mahal
Today you will be driven to Agra, stopping at the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri en-route. This red sandstone ghost town dates back to the 16th century, designed as the Mughal capital, it was occupied for only 14 years, due to the water supply being inadequate. Today it is a perfectly preserved masterpiece of Mughal glory. We continue to Agra and this evening we take you to visit the Taj Mahal at sunset. It's lovely to watch as the colours change on the building in the fading light.

Day 13
Taj Mahal, Agra And Back To Delhi
An early start (but it's well worth it) as you return to the Taj Mahal, this time to see the sun rise. Return to the hotel for breakfast before visiting the Red Fort and Baby Taj. Later in the day your driver will collect you and take you back to Delhi, for your final night.
